Our mission is to completely transform the current narrative surrounding the capabilities of black people and the outdoors into a positive story that is built upon the astounding testimonies of incredible individuals.


Vision

Our vision is to build a platform for black outdoor leaders and businesses to be constantly recognized for their accomplishments. We want to inspire youth and adults to unapologetically join our community and explore the great outdoors.

Roots & Reasons

Understanding What, How, and Why

For numerous people just like you, Black Rec Magazine is the first place they stop by to learn more about what part of the outdoor scene is calling their name!

  • Black Rec stands for black recreation as we support the true exploration of nature.

    This magazine company aims to highlight and represent blacks, Asian Americans, Native Americans, Latinos, Native Hawaiians, other Pacific Islanders, and all minorities in their pursuit of rewarding work in the outdoors.

  • We love to feature different businesses, organizations, and people who work in this space. Our goal is to continuously make information with free recreation opportunities more readily accessible by featuring innovative outdoor organizations and trailblazing nonprofits.

    Our magazine displays people taking part in various recreational activities outdoors like hiking, fishing, rock climbing, wildlife viewing, kayaking, canoeing, rafting, ice climbing, winter camping, etc. This platform is the perfect space for these organizations to connect.

    Black Rec promotes more diversity on public lands like national parks, neighborhood parks, national forests, and so many more! Through our professional advertising and marketing skills, we showcase the achievements of diverse people in the outdoors.

    With our radical commitment to this cause, we are helping to improve the lack of diverse leadership in different outdoor agencies.

    By accomplishing this aspiration, we will inspire individuals of various ages and numerous backgrounds to restart their life by simply going outside! Getting involved with the environment will give people the chance to enjoy experiences that used to only exist in their wildest dreams.

    Young people deserve to see role models who look like them. This is how true inspiration is born. We want everyone to see the wonderful opportunities being created by numerous different businesses, organizations, and people in the outdoors.

    Getting more people of color and other minorities outdoors charts a path for young families to also journey down this road. Black Rec is here to show college, high school, and middle school students that there truly is a legacy of outdoor leadership amongst people of their race.
